ملازمت کی تفصیل

Role overview

This is a permanent, full-time position based in Wellington, New Zealand, within a team working to improve equitable and excellent outcomes across the education system.

The Advisor will report to the Manager, Processing and support the administration of scholarships, awards, grants, and other funding initiatives. The position also contributes to strengthening cultural capability and technology capability across the work programme.

The role relies on workforce information, research, evidence, and stakeholder feedback to support well-informed decisions that improve the outcomes of existing programmes. Work priorities may change in response to organisational, sector, or Ministerial needs, so the role calls for someone who can work independently while also contributing strongly to team delivery.

What the team does

The wider group leads sector workforce employment relations, manages the relationship with Education Payroll Limited, and carries responsibility for bargaining. It also supports the organisation so that the education workforce remains central to work programmes and services.

The team advances the education workforce strategy across specialist services, employment relations, pay equity, education payroll, supply, and scholarship functions. It helps ensure the sector has the right people in the right places at the right time across early learning, kōhanga reo, schools, and kura. The group also works with tertiary education organisations, including wānanga, iwi and Māori, and other partners to co-design responses to workforce challenges, including support for teachers with te reo and mātauranga Māori knowledge as well as Pacific languages.

The Processing team manages a range of initiatives aimed at increasing the number, diversity, and quality of the education workforce, using workforce data to refine incentives and help shape new projects and initiatives.

What you will do

  • Support the administration of scholarships, awards, grants, and funding programmes.
  • Use data, research, and stakeholder insights to inform decisions and improve programme performance.
  • Adapt to shifting priorities and respond effectively to emerging work demands.
  • Contribute to both cultural capability and technology capability improvements.
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to help deliver team and organisational outcomes.

What we are looking for

We are seeking a self-driven and organised professional who can balance several priorities at once and maintain a continuous improvement approach. You should be comfortable planning and sequencing work, identifying risks early, and adjusting when priorities change.

You will need strong communication and customer service skills, along with the ability to build trusted relationships with a wide range of people, including Māori and Pacific Peoples.

The role also requires strong analytical ability, sound technical capability, an understanding of how government and the public sector operate, and awareness of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and its relevance to the Ministry’s work, particularly in relation to Māori development and Treaty-based partnership values.

You must be willing to follow the Public Service Standards of Integrity and Conduct.

Salary and employment details

This is a permanent role. The salary range is $74,815 to $90,347 per annum, plus KiwiSaver. The appointed salary will reflect the successful candidate’s skills and experience.
