Role overview
We are hiring a Senior Systems Software Engineer to join a core platform kernel team in Cork, supporting advanced embedded software development for a global semiconductor business. The organization builds next-generation system-on-chip platforms used across compute, smartphone, IoT, and automotive products.
This position focuses on creating and validating important low-level drivers and related features across a broad chipset range. You will help shape software that supports multiple device-driver teams and contributes to both internal and external deliverables.
This is an onsite role and requires working from the Cork office five days a week.
What you will do
- Build and prototype essential embedded drivers for upcoming SoC platforms.
- Work on cross-cutting features that apply across a wide variety of chipsets, including mobile, automotive, XR, and related domains.
- Create, verify, and document drivers intended for both internal teams and external users.
- Partner with a distributed global engineering organization to deliver high-value software outcomes.
- Improve methods used for experimentation and analysis within the core platform area.
Required background and skills
- Solid experience in SoC development or SoC architecture, ideally with exposure to compute or mobile systems.
- Strong understanding of Linux kernel internals and device driver development.
- Good command of C and data structures in a Linux kernel setting.
- Proven ability to debug and solve complex issues in kernel-level software.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills for collaboration across international teams.
Nice-to-have expertise
- Knowledge of ARM and RISC-V architecture, including coherency, signalling, memory management, or virtualization.
- Hardware familiarity with DSPs, ARM CPUs, high-speed and low-speed peripherals, DDR, interconnects, or system cache.
- Understanding of system architecture topics such as power, boot, debug, security, or access control.
- Exposure to technical tools and languages such as Python, Perl, C++, Assembly, or ARM CoreSight.

The role must be performed onsite in Cork, five days per week.
