Role overview

The Munitions QC role is responsible for checking, tracking, and improving quality across munitions-related activities. This includes oversight of explosives processes, internal quality controls, training effectiveness, and compliance with explosive, industrial, and environmental safety programs for the Munitions Department. The position also serves as the local point of contact for weapons safety matters and supports compliance with the Performance Work Statement (PWS) and the ISO 9001 Quality Management System.

Key duties

• Carry out unannounced quality checks across munitions receiving, shipping, storage, accountability, maintenance, supply, procurement, and transport activities, including related facilities.
• Conduct in-process and final inspections for accountability, inspection, maintenance, storage, transportation, and shipping operations.
• Observe workshop conditions and housekeeping standards to spot gaps, unsafe practices, and negative trends that need management attention.
• Inspect outbound munitions shipments, including validating required photographs.
• Check tools, shop equipment, safety gear, and protective clothing on a random basis.
• Review materials requisitions, storage controls, and parts tracking processes through spot checks.
• Examine production schedules, inspection plans, work orders, and historical records to confirm accuracy and on-time completion.
• Review technical order files and Air Force standards to ensure they remain current and complete.
• Assess work methods and facilities for compliance with ISO 9001 and weapons safety requirements.
• Help review written procedures and emergency action checklists and verify they are updated and accurate each year.
• Work with other departments and PSO to align procedures and standard operating practices.
• Support the creation and rollout of departmental training programs.
• Assist with on-the-job training and review training records for compliance.
• Coordinate weapons safety matters through the Weapons Safety Office.
• Perform spot inspections of explosive operations to confirm compliance with safety and technical standards.
• Track current waivers, exemptions, and deviations from safety criteria and maintain related records.
• Brief the Munitions Superintendent, Site Manager, and Safety Manager on any risk created by waivers, exemptions, or deviations.
• Complete risk assessments for weapons safety violations and provide corrective-action reports to site leadership.
• Stay informed about all base planning and activities that could affect Amentum weapons safety.
• Take part in quality improvement and risk management decisions covering maintenance, storage, operating areas, handling equipment, weapons system changes, test programs, and training.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned.
• Work in office, maintenance shop, or warehouse settings, with potential extended outdoor work.

Minimum requirements

• Strong computer skills, including Windows OS and Microsoft Office tools such as PowerPoint, Excel, and Word.
• Working knowledge of USAF Supply and technical order systems, or an equivalent US service system.
• Working knowledge of mission information systems used for PGM activities.
• May need to operate material handling equipment.
• Valid driver’s license from the home country and the ability to secure a host-nation license.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 7 years of experience with USAF military munitions, or an equivalent US service background.
• At least 5 years of combined supervisory experience in USAF munitions activities and MMHE, or equivalent service experience.
• Meets the prerequisites for a Senior Munitions Inspector under AFMAN 21-200.
• Ability to attend the USAF Munitions Inspector Course.
• Ability to obtain and keep a Secret US Government Clearance; US citizenship is required for this clearance.
• Must use required personal protective equipment in line with task-specific procedures.
• Must be physically able to perform all job duties and lift, push, or pull at least 50 lbs.
• Able to travel within the country and internationally.
• Normal color vision and depth perception are required.

Preferred background

• Experience with USAF munitions storage, maintenance, control, and inspection procedures.
• Hands-on familiarity with TICMS, MC2, TMRS, and IMDS/DPAS M&U for munitions and MMHE.
• At least 2 years working as a USAF Munitions Inspector, with SEI Code 836 awarded.
• Previous experience as a Weapons Safety Manager for at least 2 years.
• Experience using a variety of handling equipment.
• Intermediate ability to operate forklifts and tractor trailers.
• CCAF degree in Munitions Management.

Compensation and benefits
