Junior Software Engineer

About the Role

This opportunity is for an early-career software engineer who wants broad exposure across a programmable bank. You will move through a rotational path covering Banking & Payments, Trading, Investment Products, and Internal Products, learning how the platform works end to end and then focusing more deeply where you can contribute the most.

The role involves building real changes across frontend and backend systems and getting them into production. You will also explore how AI tools can support engineering speed and quality, while your performance will still be judged in the traditional way: by the quality of your decisions, the work you ship, and the business impact you create.

This position is best suited to someone at the start of their career who wants to understand the wider business, work across multiple domains, and grow quickly into a highly accountable technical contributor.

What You Will Do in the First 6 Months

• Move across functional areas such as Banking & Payments, Trading, Investment Products, and Internal Products, delivering full-stack changes and learning how each area connects to the wider platform.
• Take well-defined features and bugs from ticket through to production, while becoming familiar with the codebase, engineering tools, and review process.
• Collaborate closely with senior engineers to understand the systems you touch and the trade-offs involved in their design.
• Use AI tools as part of your daily workflow and help identify where they truly improve engineering speed and output quality.

How You Will Grow

• Take ownership of small, clearly scoped areas from design through build, release, and ongoing maintenance.
• Be accountable for delivery results, not only for writing code, in the part of the product where you can add the most value.
• Join code reviews, technical design conversations, and RFC discussions, and begin contributing your own ideas.
• Improve the surrounding systems and internal tools so the whole team benefits from better engineering practices.

What Success Looks Like

• By 6 months, you should have established yourself in one product line, own one or more small domains within it, and be trusted to take a problem through to completion.
• Within a year, you are expected to progress toward mid-level capability, handle larger pieces of work, make solid technical decisions independently, and influence your team’s roadmap in measurable ways.

What We Are Looking For

• 0-2 years of experience in software development.
• Comfort working across the stack, including frontend work, or a strong willingness to build that comfort quickly.
• Ability in at least one programming language; Go and TypeScript are preferred but not mandatory.
• Strong analytical thinking and practical engineering judgement, even when solving small problems.
• Curiosity about how systems connect and how the business generates revenue.
• Interest in using AI tools effectively as part of engineering work.
• A growth-oriented mindset with a willingness to learn, iterate, accept feedback, and take on greater responsibility.

Who Fits Well Here

This role is open to candidates from non-traditional and non-technical backgrounds as well. A computer science degree is not required, and neither is any degree. The team values curiosity, communication, ownership, and the willingness to learn over senior-level architecture experience at this stage. People who are especially interested in deep backend engineering at a senior level may be a better fit for other open backend roles.

• What makes an API genuinely valuable for external platforms versus merely acceptable?
• Why does something behave correctly in staging but fail in production, and how can that be prevented going forward?
