Key responsibilities
- Partner with IT and engineering teams to identify high-value opportunities for digital technology adoption.
- Work with large datasets from engine sensors, test rigs, and fleet operations by cleaning, interpreting, and analyzing the data.
- Create, train, and test machine learning models for use cases such as engineering knowledge search, anomaly research, production support, and predictive maintenance.
- Prepare clear documentation and communicate results effectively to both technical stakeholders and non-technical audiences.

Basic qualification requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, or Physics; or
- A master’s degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, or Physics; or
- A PhD in Engineering, Chemistry, Computer Science, Information Technology, Mathematics, or Physics.
- Must be a U.S. citizen to be considered.
Preferred qualifications
- At least 1 year of machine learning experience, including internships.
- Familiarity with, or strong interest in, modern software development methods and programming languages.
- Exposure to or interest in surrogate modelling, generative AI, or agentic AI solutions.
- Strong systems thinking, communication, time management, and teamwork skills.
- Ability to solve problems alongside people working on mechanical systems, even when they are not data or AI experts.
- Willingness to keep learning and adjust quickly as goals and priorities evolve.
Compensation and benefits
The annual pay range for this role is $66,306 to $107,747. Rolls-Royce also offers a competitive benefits package that may include a bonus, employee support assistance, and employee discounts.

Hybrid and remote working notes
Hybrid working is described as a flexible arrangement that allows time between the office, home, or another remote location, with attendance expected in the workplace for collaboration and other specific reasons on average three days per week.
For fully remote roles, employees may live in any U.S. state except Idaho, Nebraska, Nevada, Vermont, and Wyoming.
