Role overview
A growing premium sports, hospitality, fitness, and wellness group serving the GCC region is hiring a General Manager to lead one of its on-site facilities. The company name is being kept confidential for now and will only be disclosed to shortlisted candidates. Relocation support is available within the GCC region. The role reports to the CEO.
The General Manager will take full ownership of site operations, ensuring every department works together to deliver an excellent member and guest experience, strong financial results, and consistently high operational standards. This position serves as the primary on-site leader and is responsible for making sure the strategic direction set by senior leadership is carried out effectively in daily operations.
Key responsibilities
- Oversee the daily performance of the facility, including fitness, spa and wellness, food and beverage, front office, and maintenance teams.
- Make sure every department follows brand procedures, service benchmarks, and all required safety and hygiene rules.
- Maintain premium standards for cleanliness, equipment condition, and overall facility presentation.
- Manage duty rosters, shift allocation, and staffing levels based on business demand.
- Build a service-focused culture that strengthens member satisfaction and retention.
- Resolve escalated member and guest concerns quickly and professionally.
- Carry out regular walkthroughs and operational checks to confirm service consistency.
- Take ownership of site revenue, membership sales, and cost control targets.
- Review daily, weekly, and monthly KPIs such as occupancy, membership growth, retention, and F&B revenue, and share updates with the CEO.
- Spot local growth opportunities through classes, events, corporate packages, and retail initiatives.
- Prepare and manage the facility budget while keeping operating costs under control.
- Lead, coach, and develop supervisors and frontline employees across all departments.
- Run performance reviews, training plans, and motivation initiatives for the team.
- Create a positive, accountable, and member-first workplace culture.
- Support hiring and onboarding for facility staff.
- Ensure full compliance with licensing, health, safety, and hygiene requirements.
- Keep emergency response processes current and ensure staff are trained in areas such as first aid and fire safety.
- Oversee incident documentation and on-site risk management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in hospitality management, business administration, sports management, or a related discipline.
- At least 8 years of experience in hospitality, fitness, wellness, or sports club operations.
- Minimum 3 years of experience as a General Manager or senior department head in a multi-department environment.
- Proven ability to meet revenue, membership, and service quality goals.
- Prior GCC or regional market experience is preferred.
- Strong command of English is required; Arabic language skills will be an advantage.
- Hands-on operational leadership approach.
- Customer-focused and service-oriented mindset.
- Commercial awareness with strong budget management capability.
- Ability to build teams, coach staff, and manage performance effectively.
- Sound judgement and problem-solving skills, especially under pressure.
- Interest in fitness, wellness, and hospitality.
