Role overview

Boots UK is hiring a Dispenser to join the pharmacy team in store at Ness, Scotland. In this position, you will support the pharmacist and other healthcare colleagues in delivering pharmacy and healthcare services safely and efficiently. The role is focused on direct in-store patient support, so remote working is not available.

You will spend your day speaking with patients, understanding their needs, handling prescriptions, and helping ensure medicines are supplied safely and appropriately. The role also involves offering healthcare guidance so patients can make better choices about their health and wellbeing.

The hourly pay for this position is £13.92, with rates of up to £16.64 in selected London locations.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and dispense prescriptions while making sure medicines are supplied safely, including ordering, labelling, endorsing, and handing out prescriptions.
• Work alongside pharmacists and other healthcare professionals to help deliver pharmacy services effectively.
• Offer advice to patients about medicines and pass more complex questions to the pharmacist when needed.
• Follow standard operating procedures to make sure prescriptions are dispensed safely and lawfully.
• Stay updated on new in-store processes and innovations, and follow operational requirements.
• Help patients manage repeat prescriptions and use medicines correctly to support adherence and reduce waste.
• Use developing store technologies and systems that improve dispensing processes, patient safety, and the amount of time available to spend with patients.

Requirements

• You should have completed the Pharmacy Advisor qualification at NVQ2 level, or an equivalent qualification, or be working towards it and have finished the first year of an MPharm degree.
• You must have current and valid UK right to work.
• This position does not qualify for Skilled Worker Visa sponsorship.
• Previous experience in community pharmacy would be an advantage.
