Role summary
This position focuses on the day-to-day oversight of a building management system, with responsibility for keeping automated building services running safely and efficiently. The role centers on monitoring, operating, and supporting maintenance of HVAC, fire, and other integrated systems, while also contributing to energy-saving initiatives and maintaining compliance with safety requirements.
Key duties
- Track and supervise maintenance and repair work on all site systems controlled through the BMS, including activities performed by external service providers.
- Carry out scheduled inspections, identify faults, and handle minor corrective work in line with the daily and weekly maintenance programme.
- Operate and observe HVAC, fire alarm, and other essential systems through the BMS to support reliable and safe performance.
- Fine-tune operating settings and other system variables to keep equipment within required limits and operating conditions.
- Capture and review operating data from HVAC and other BMS-managed equipment to help improve energy performance and track system behavior.
- Follow all applicable safety and environmental rules during every task.
- Escalate accidents, injuries, unsafe situations, or unsafe practices immediately to the appropriate authority.
- Attend safety briefings and toolbox talks to strengthen awareness and reinforce compliance with safety procedures.
- Keep accurate records and submit regular written updates on maintenance activity, repairs, and system status to management.
- Diagnose and resolve unplanned technical issues and operational disruptions promptly.
- Assist site management in identifying and sourcing maintenance and repair materials, ensuring the items selected meet specification and intended use.
- Look after the handling, storage, and upkeep of materials and equipment.
- Suggest improvements, upgrades, and system changes that can increase efficiency and reduce operating costs.
- Prepare all required maintenance documentation and secure approvals after client inspection.
Required background and skills
The role calls for strong working knowledge of building management systems and automation controls, along with an understanding of HVAC and fire protection equipment. The successful candidate should be comfortable troubleshooting technical issues, paying close attention to operating data, and communicating findings clearly in reports.
