About the Company

Elan International, established in 1991, is a family-focused business based in Miami with showrooms in Miami, New York, Dallas, and Los Angeles. The company creates, produces, and distributes wholesale apparel for boutiques and department stores across international markets.

Role Overview

The design team is seeking an Assistant Designer to help support ongoing growth. This role suits someone who thrives in a busy environment, pays exceptional attention to detail, keeps deadlines front and center, and can juggle multiple tasks while working closely with internal teams and outside vendors.

This is an on-site position only.

Candidate Profile

The ideal applicant brings 0–2 years of experience and holds a bachelor’s degree in Fashion Design. Strong computer proficiency is important, especially with Adobe Suite tools such as Photoshop and Illustrator, along with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook. A strong sense for color, prints, trends, detail, and garment construction is essential, as are solid sketching abilities in either digital or hand-drawn form.

You should be able to measure garments and build tech packs, understand print, graphic artwork, and embroidery, and approach work proactively as a self-starter and problem-solver. The role also calls for strong organization, the ability to prioritize business needs, teamwork, clear communication, and a willingness to learn. Experience with Web PLM is considered an advantage.

Responsibilities

The Assistant Designer will help the team hit seasonal and product-line deadlines while contributing to the full design workflow.

  • Create garment sketches, mockups, and flat drawings for presentations and technical use.
  • Help prepare and complete tech packs.
  • Update PLM records with fabric swatches, lab dip approvals, and strike-off approvals as required.
  • Support fittings by documenting notes and sharing comments with vendors, PD, and PLM.
  • Develop artwork, layouts, colorways, and embellishment ideas for prints, graphics, and embroidery.
  • Keep design materials organized, including digital boards, PD master sheets, samples, trims, and fabrics.
  • Work collaboratively with cross-functional partners.
  • Communicate with vendors regarding fit feedback, strike-off review, and print development.
  • Coordinate local and international shipping of items.

Benefits

The role includes paid time off, dental coverage, employee discounts, health insurance, and vision insurance.

Additional Information

This position is intended for someone who is comfortable in a fast-paced setting and able to manage multiple priorities without losing focus on accuracy or deadlines.
