Subcontracts Specialist

Job overview

The Subcontracts Specialist works with a practical understanding of subcontracting principles and, with moderate support from colleagues and leaders, resolves routine subcontract issues. The role involves evaluating options by following established procedures while building familiarity with the organization, its processes, and its customers. This position uses business awareness, technical judgment, and prior examples to address straightforward situations and support sound decisions.

Responsibilities

• Support bid and proposal work by preparing subcontractor bidding documentation, evaluations, and related materials.
• Handle the commercial and administrative subcontract activities assigned to the project.
• Work in line with the global procedures defined in the management system.
• Stay informed about the Health, Safety, and Environment plan and the steps to take during an emergency.
• Help implement the HSE plan overall, including its application to subcontractors.
• Ensure subcontractors meet their contractual commitments.
• Identify, assess, draft, and agree subcontract scope changes, while tracking project risks.
• Process subcontract changes as instructed by the Subcontract Manager or other project lead.
• Prepare and refresh subcontract cost forecasts for the Project Controls Manager.
• Contribute updates for weekly and monthly project reporting.
• Follow the organization’s sourcing strategy and work within it.
• May support senior team members who use subcontract systems.
• Escalate issues promptly to subcontract leadership when needed.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree, or an equivalent qualification, in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or a closely related field.
• Three to six years of relevant professional experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication, including presentation delivery.
• Solid problem-solving ability.
• Good judgment and decision-making skills.
• Strong negotiation capability.
