Senior Manager – R&D, Ready to Drink (RTD)

Role overviewThis position leads research and development for the Ready to Drink (RTD) portfolio, supporting the business in building a stronger product pipeline, improving margins, and accelerating category growth. The role sits under the guidance of the vertical lead and combines product innovation, process development, commercialization, and cross-functional execution.Key deliverablesFinancial outcomesDrive the RTD new product development strategy and pipeline to support overall category revenue growth.Champion cost-innovation and cost-reduction initiatives to deliver targeted savings and better margins.Customer serviceLead product and process development for RTD based on approved briefs from the business teams.Handle the technical work for process- and technology-led projects, keeping delivery aligned to timelines, budgets, business goals, and consumer acceptance.Facilitate cross-functional discussions so project workstreams move forward effectively.Identify, evaluate, and adapt vendors, technologies, materials, and processes to support development programs.Internal processesPlan and execute new product development across RTD segments such as hydration, tea, coffee, dairy, jelly, and other emerging value-added categories.Support RTD product strategy discussions to enable incremental revenue through innovation, efficiency gains, and simplification.Lead commercialization work with Marketing, Operations, Quality, and external partners.Own R&D systems and process management, including Specification Management (PLM) and sensory management tools.Maintain product and process specifications, including technology transfer documents and manufacturing protocols, using approved templates and systems.Ensure all internal procedures are followed and technical records are complete, including RM/FG specifications, trial plans, and trial reports.Innovation and learningStay current on food and beverage trends, technology developments, competitor moves, and changing consumer/customer expectations.Develop new concepts for process and technology platforms that align with business priorities.Support upkeep of the NPD laboratory, storage spaces, and pilot plant, with assistance where needed.Manage temporary resources and lab attendants when required.Critical success factorsMaster’s degree in Food Science and Technology or Food Engineering from a reputed institute.10 to 12 years of professional experience in food R&D within top FMCG organizations.Strongly preferred: experience in developing and processing liquid beverages.
