Key responsibilities

The role centers on BSP development, hardware enablement, technical problem-solving, and cross-functional collaboration.

• Build and maintain BSP components and configuration settings.
• Bring up new hardware platforms and processor targets.
• Support hardware initialization and validation activities.
• Produce clean, maintainable code that follows team engineering standards.
• Investigate and resolve difficult BSP-related defects.
• Improve BSP efficiency, reliability, and platform compatibility.
• Offer technical direction and mentorship to less experienced engineers.
• Take part in code reviews and technical design conversations.
• Contribute to architecture and design choices.
• Lead technical improvements, best practices, and small initiatives.
• Work closely with internal teams and other functions across global locations.
• Collaborate with distributed colleagues in the US, Romania, and India.
• Document solutions and share knowledge through discussions and written material.
• Participate in sprint planning, estimation, retrospectives, and process refinement.
• Partner with hardware vendors and external collaborators when needed.
• Configure device trees and hardware abstraction layers.
• Develop approaches for complex BSP challenges and preserve support across hardware platforms.

Required background

Candidates should bring strong embedded engineering experience, solid Linux-based development skills, and proven BSP knowledge.

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline.
• At least 5 years of software engineering experience.
• At least 3 years of experience working with embedded systems and hardware.
• Hands-on C/C++ development experience in production environments.
• Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle in Linux-based systems.
• Solid embedded systems and hardware fundamentals.
• Practical experience in embedded development.
• Knowledge of build tools such as Yocto, Buildroot, or similar systems.
• Strong debugging and problem-solving ability.
• Experience using Git and participating in code review workflows.
• Working knowledge of Agile and Scrum development methods.
• Understanding of BSPs, hardware enablement, device trees, bootloaders, HALs, embedded interfaces, and performance tuning.
• Preferred exposure to Yocto Project, hardware bring-up and validation, processor architectures such as ARM or x86, device drivers, boot processes, and open-source contributions.
• Additional advantage for experience in automotive, aerospace, or industrial domains.

Additional information

The role is based in Bangalore, Karnataka, India, with an onsite work arrangement. The hiring process indicates one open position.
