Role summary
The Sales Manager will drive business growth by building relationships with new and existing accounts, managing sales activity, and helping deliver room night and revenue targets. The role calls for strong client engagement, market awareness, coordination across departments, and consistent support for the wider sales team.
Key responsibilities
- Develop business from new and existing accounts and help achieve or surpass revenue targets through calls, visits, inspections, and written communication.
- Maintain a minimum level of five daily appointments across current and potential accounts to support sales objectives.
- Handle sales administration tasks, including email replies, correspondence, and database updates.
- Maintain a visible presence with trade and professional contacts within the assigned market segment.
- Build and sustain relationships with clients, local hotel associations, and other community contacts outside the hotel.
- Pursue corporate, consortium, and leisure business individually and with others through structured action plans.
- Carry out sales action plans in line with the revenue and business plan.
- Negotiate pricing within approved limits, confirm reservations in writing, prepare contracts, and secure signatures to finalize business.
- Manage contracted accounts on an ongoing basis and set quarterly production targets after contracts are in place.
- Deliver room night and revenue results aligned with the annual business and incentive plan.
- Attend major trade functions such as exhibitions and association events when approved by the Director of Sales & Marketing.
- Plan sales trips to priority markets under the Director of Sales approval and visit accounts in the designated area.
- Collect and enter market intelligence into the sales information management system as required.
- Stay informed about market trends, competitors, and customer developments.
- Generate sales leads for sister hotels and support in-house sales colleagues.
- Share feedback with senior sales leadership on market changes and competitor activity observed through direct contact and outreach.
- Arrange familiarization visits and site inspections for key clients and accompany them where needed.
- Complete assigned work on time and meet all deadlines.
- Maintain organized files for active major accounts within the assigned segment.
- Support positive employee relations and work effectively with the team.
- Carry out related duties and special assignments as needed.
- Maintain punctuality, professional appearance, and proper timekeeping.
- Train and develop sales executives, sales coordinators, and other team members within the assigned sales and marketing areas.
- Prepare timesheets, rota schedules, and holiday plans as required by business needs.
- Prepare purchase orders when needed.
- Handle special projects and reasonable requests from the department head or hotel management.
- Draft customer correspondence, internal booking reports, and maintain files.
- Participate in daily RevMax meetings, pre-convention meetings, training sessions, and other sales meetings.
- Collaborate with other hotel departments to deliver high-quality guest and customer service.
- Attend local trade shows, community events, and industry meetings.
Candidate requirements
- Ability to conduct telephone, in-person, and written sales outreach effectively.
- Experience handling account management, negotiations, and contract completion.
- Strong administrative ability, including document handling, scheduling, and database maintenance.
- Comfort working with market intelligence, sales systems, and performance targets.
- Capability to coordinate with multiple internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Professional conduct, strong time management, and reliable attendance.
- Ability to train and support junior sales staff.
