This position is centered on creating and managing proposal content and budgets for domestic and global opportunities, with collaboration across business development, operations, and subject matter experts.

Key responsibilities

The Proposal Manager receives and reviews requests for proposals from Business Development and makes sure the right subject matter experts are engaged and informed.

You will draft and refine proposal narratives, budgets, and cover letters for RFPs and rebids, incorporating SME feedback and handling the work independently except for the most complex cases.

Accuracy is important in this role, so proposal materials must align with the RFP, client instructions, and internal assumptions.

The role also includes collecting third-party quotations when needed, updating proposal status and value in relevant systems or forms, and taking part in project handover discussions.

Budgets may need to be presented in formats specified by the client, and you may provide guidance to internal stakeholders on process standards.

Depending on department procedures, you may also complete peer quality checks before manager approval.

Another part of the job is to recommend and apply proposal and pricing approaches that improve overall submission quality, while working closely with team members, operations, and business development to tailor proposals.

Requirements

A bachelor's degree, or an equivalent qualification in a business- or health-related area, is expected along with relevant experience in proposal preparation within the CRO or pharmaceutical industry. Prior supervisory experience is also required.

You should be comfortable using Microsoft Office tools at an intermediate to advanced level, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, as well as email and voicemail systems.

A solid understanding of clinical study operations across different regions is important and may come from previous industry experience.

The role calls for strong analytical ability, negotiation skills, organization, multitasking, problem solving, sound judgment, attention to detail, and excellent written and verbal communication. Strong interpersonal and team-oriented skills are also needed, along with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.

Travel is uncommon, but national or international travel may still be needed around 2 to 3 times per year.
