Role overview
The India Operations Capex Procurement team is looking for a Procurement Manager to support capex categories across India, with a strong focus on the quick commerce footprint. This role involves independently managing several categories, subcategories, and complex projects while working with a high degree of judgment and autonomy. You will shape vendor capability requirements, procurement strategy, and the innovation roadmap for the category, while partnering closely with design engineering and sourcing vendors such as general contractors, cold room providers, and shelving suppliers for quick commerce operations.
The position also requires close collaboration with internal and external stakeholders to build strong procurement processes and deliver the best outcomes for the end customer.
What you'll do
- Analyze spend, performance, and compliance information to guide supplier and category decisions, with procurement strategy centered on quick commerce.
- Track market developments in assigned categories and use that insight to spot trends and reduce market-related risks.
- Develop and execute sourcing plans with cross-functional partners, and communicate initiatives clearly to secure buy-in from customers and suppliers.
- Create control mechanisms and lead programs that keep supplier costs within target levels, while identifying opportunities to reduce spend.
- Assess whether purchases are justified and provide sound recommendations to business owners.
- Decide which suppliers are suitable for long-term agreements based on their overall business value, and define the standards for working with them.
- Set supplier diversity and sourcing targets, broaden supplier options, and review progress regularly to improve outcomes.
- Lead commercial negotiations, contract terms, and rollout plans with suppliers.
- Ensure compliance paperwork and contract execution are completed by coordinating with legal, business, operations, and vendor teams.
- Work independently with strong discretion and represent the procurement function both internally and externally.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Supply Chain, Procurement, or a closely related discipline is preferred.
- 2 to 4 years of experience in procurement, supply chain, strategic sourcing, operational planning, or supplier management.
- For preferred consideration, 4+ years of relevant experience is valued.
- Strong negotiation, contract development, and program management skills.
- Experience managing supplier relationships proactively to create business value.
- Ability to evaluate suppliers, monitor performance, and help ensure project objectives, schedules, and quality requirements are met.
- Long-term strategic thinking, financial analysis, and total cost of ownership analysis.
- Quick decision-making, urgency, customer focus, and clear communication skills.
- A collaborative mindset with a willingness to challenge convention and drive innovation.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Good working knowledge of PCs, including Windows and Excel.
- Advanced degree is preferred.
- Master’s degree is preferred.
- 7+ years of procurement experience is also listed as a preferred qualification.
