Role overview
Tesla is looking for an experienced and proactive NPI Materials Program Manager to lead material planning, warehousing, and delivery support for new program launches. The role covers prototype builds, pre-production runs, and the SOP phase, continuing through the point where responsibility shifts to sustainment planning.
Key responsibilities
- Coordinate planning, scheduling, and management of purchased materials for new programs.
- Support each program from prototype through start of production and manage the handoff into the production sustaining team, including ownership of the transition plan for program parts.
- Partner with suppliers to set delivery timing for individual components, including quantity and frequency targets to support on-time receipt, while aligning with Supply Chain and Logistics teams as needed.
- Lead communication on program material status with core stakeholders such as program management, PMI, engineering, and supply chain.
- Maintain BOM integrity by working with engineering, PMI, and document control, and keep MRP records current with confirmed supplier quantities and due dates; investigate and resolve mismatches.
- Work with Supply Chain and Engineering on material changes driven by change actions, help introduce new material, and reduce obsolete inventory exposure.
- Operate effectively in a highly cross-functional setting that includes manufacturing, program management, product development, design engineering, supply chain, production control, and logistics.
Requirements
- A degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, or a closely related discipline, or an equivalent mix of experience and exceptional capability.
- At least 3 years of experience in materials management, production planning, material scheduling, or purchasing within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong Excel skills, including the ability to build, maintain, and improve shortage-tracking reports.
- Solid analytical ability, with a focus on improving delivery costs and inventory levels.
- Familiarity with PLM systems and enterprise inventory tools such as SAP or MES is an advantage.
- Ability to juggle several projects at once and prioritize effectively based on demand.
- Comfort presenting material updates in weekly program or executive meetings and solving problems independently in a fast-moving environment with limited supervision.

Additional information
