About the Role

KPMG Global Services (KGS) Tax operates across several cities in India and supports KPMG firms worldwide with tax and compliance services. Responsibilities

  • Provide clients with a reliable, accurate, cost-efficient, and professional payroll service while maintaining strong customer experience.
  • Ensure payroll cycles are completed efficiently, correctly, and on schedule in line with tight deadlines.
  • Handle engagement management tasks such as compliance renewals, invoicing, and work-in-progress monitoring.
  • Lead, support, and develop the payroll team.
  • Spot opportunities to expand payroll services and business growth.
  • Prepare responses for RFI and RFP submissions.
  • Improve the existing payroll platform and assess, introduce, and implement a new payroll system for domestic clients if needed.
  • Keep up to date with legislation and statutory requirements, and ensure the team is trained accordingly.
  • Review current workflows to identify improvements, introduce better processes, and drive change.
  • Manage internal and external communication for issue resolution and query handling.
  • Meet service delivery targets, including SLA performance and customer satisfaction goals.
  • Set, track, and review KPIs for the function.
  • Identify savings opportunities and support profitability improvements.
  • Collaborate across KPMG teams to grow payroll as a service line and uncover cross-selling opportunities.
  • Lead projects within payroll and the wider GMS services portfolio.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in payroll management.
  • Master’s degree from a reputable university, with strong academic performance.
  • Educational background in accounting, finance, technology, or a closely related discipline.
  • Strong analytical and logical decision-making skills.
  • Ability to think innovatively while staying fully compliant with regulations.
  • Comfortable building and maintaining strong relationships with clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Capability to identify operational gaps, process enhancements, and training needs.
