Role overview
The Junior Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate day-to-day accounting records, supporting financial operations, and assisting with compliance and reporting activities.
Key responsibilities
This role involves recording transactions, maintaining books, handling invoices and vouchers, supporting reconciliations, assisting with statutory filings, and contributing to month-end, year-end, payroll, budgeting, and reporting processes.
Detailed responsibilities
- Enter daily financial transactions correctly into the accounting system.
- Keep ledgers, journals, books of accounts, and related financial records up to date.
- Review vendor invoices, purchase bills, and payment vouchers.
- Create customer invoices and track outstanding receivables.
- Complete bank reconciliations and help monitor cash movement.
- Manage accounts payable and accounts receivable activities.
- Support preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
- Assist with month-end and year-end closing tasks.
- Match bank, vendor, and customer accounts to ensure accuracy.
- Help with GST returns, TDS calculations, and other statutory compliance work.
- Coordinate with internal and statutory auditors as needed.
- Maintain supporting documents and financial records in an organized manner.
- Check expense claims and supporting bills for accuracy.
- Support payroll accounting and employee reimbursement processing.
- Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and MIS reporting.
- Ensure work complies with accounting standards, company policies, and relevant financial regulations.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
- 0 to 2 years of experience in accounting or finance; freshers may also apply.
- Sound understanding of accounting principles and bookkeeping practices.
- Basic knowledge of GST, TDS, and statutory compliance requirements.
- Understanding of financial reporting and account reconciliation processes.
- Good command of MS Excel.
- Exposure to Zoho Books, QuickBooks, or Tally will be an advantage.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and communication abilities.
