This is a 9-month contract for an experienced consumer insights professional who can lead research activity across a wide mix of business areas, audience groups, and research approaches. The position sits within a global insights team and supports fast-moving work by turning consumer and market evidence into practical decisions.

The right person will be comfortable handling several projects at once, shifting priorities quickly, and converting findings into recommendations that create measurable business value.

Key responsibilities

  • Take ownership of a varied set of research projects and respond rapidly to urgent business questions and changing priorities.
  • Work closely with insights teammates and cross-functional partners to define research goals, build learning plans, and deliver recommendations on time.
  • Support decision-making across the customer journey by partnering with product, design, marketing, sales, and strategy teams.
  • Carry out research across different sectors and audience groups, covering both consumer and commercial markets.
  • Plan and run research programmes using a blend of methods such as quantitative surveys, qualitative interviews, segmentation work, customer journey mapping, concept testing, brand tracking, and digital experience testing.
  • Turn research output into clear stories that explain customer needs, commercial impact, and next-step actions.
  • Coordinate with external research agencies and partners, while also being able to complete hands-on research directly when needed.
  • Help maintain shared knowledge by organising, summarising, and storing research outputs so insights can be reused across the business.
  • Track quality, delivery timelines, budgets, and project progress to keep research work on course.

Experience and skills required

  • Extensive background in consumer insights, customer research, or market research gained in either a client-side business or a research agency.
  • Ability to move between multiple industries, customer groups, and business problems with little time needed to ramp up.
  • Strong command of both qualitative and quantitative methods, including interviews, focus groups, segmentation, concept testing, usage and attitude studies, customer experience research, and digital usability assessment.
  • Solid project management experience, with responsibility for research programmes from planning through to final delivery.
  • Experience overseeing third-party vendors and research partners.
  • Strong communication and storytelling ability, with a talent for presenting complex findings in a concise, practical way.
  • Proven stakeholder management skills and experience working in cross-functional teams.
  • Comfort working in global environments and collaborating across regions and time zones.
  • Experience using modern AI-based productivity and research tools.
