Role overview
We are seeking a Housekeeper to join a multidisciplinary team in a ward-based setting in Livingston. In this role, you will help maintain a clean, organised, and well-kept ward environment while working alongside clients to complete housekeeping duties within the unit. You will also provide support to the registered nurse and other relevant professional practitioners when appropriate.
Equality, diversity, and inclusion
NHS Scotland is committed to promoting equality and diversity across its workforce and removing unlawful discrimination. The organisation aims to build a workforce that reflects society and to make sure every employee feels respected and able to perform at their best. Applications from all sections of the community are encouraged.
Use of AI in applications
Applicants may use AI tools such as ChatGPT or Copilot for planning or preparation, but any application responses must be written in their own words and reflect their genuine experience and motivation. AI can be used for ideas or proofreading, but it should not draft the answers. Applications that appear to depend on AI-generated content may be withdrawn.
Additional information
For detailed information on the duties of the role and the experience sought, applicants should refer to the job description and person specification linked within the vacancy. Queries about the post can be directed to Debbie.burns2@nhs.scot.
PVG and criminal records requirements
This position requires membership or a record with the PVG Scheme. If the successful candidate is not already a PVG member for the relevant regulatory group, an application must be made to Disclosure Scotland and must be judged satisfactory before the person can start. Owing to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, the role may require a different level of criminal records check than is currently in place. If the post is assessed as a regulated role, appointment will depend on joining the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme. Any change in the requirement will be confirmed by the hiring manager or recruitment team.
Right to work
Anyone working in the United Kingdom must be able to prove they have the correct permission to work. This is granted through the UK Visa and Immigrations Service, and further details about the checks NHS Scotland Boards must complete and the applicant’s responsibilities are provided in the vacancy information.
Recruitment note
A high number of applications is expected for this role, and the vacancy may close early once enough suitable applications have been received. Candidates are therefore encouraged to submit their application as soon as possible.
Support for candidates
Disabled candidates, as well as applicants with long-term conditions or neurodivergence, will be supported through reasonable adjustments to recruitment policies and practices.
