Evening Shift Production Supervisor

Overview

Meissner, the largest privately owned filter and Single-Use Process Solutions (SUPS) manufacturer globally, is expanding its manufacturing team in Castlebar, County Mayo, Ireland. We are seeking a skilled Production Supervisor to manage evening shift cleanroom production operations. SUPS are essential components used in the production of advanced, life-saving medicines, often involving unique, complex designs. Our clients include biopharmaceutical companies worldwide relying on our engineering and scientific expertise to implement superior technology solutions in drug manufacturing.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the evening shift by managing all production activities and facility operations, possessing authority to make decisions and escalate critical matters to the Production Manager.
• Oversee training, coaching, evaluation, and development of production operatives and team leaders to enhance performance and skill sets.
• Manage and execute the production plan by prioritizing and scheduling work orders, monitoring progress, and resolving production issues promptly.
• Drive workforce development through training needs analysis, succession planning, and maintaining accurate training documentation to support organizational growth.
• Administer supervisory duties compliant with company policies and legislation, including recruitment, onboarding, performance appraisals, disciplinary procedures, and conflict resolution.
• Collaborate extensively with Planning to align weekly priorities, anticipate risks, and consistently meet production targets and key performance indicators.
• Ensure compliance with Health and Safety standards, Quality protocols, Line Clearance, and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) to deliver products meeting customer expectations.
• Lead continuous improvement efforts, working cross-functionally with Manufacturing, Quality, Engineering, Maintenance, and Supply Chain teams to minimize waste and enhance efficiency.
• Identify and analyze operational challenges, conduct root cause analysis, and implement sustainable solutions to foster ongoing improvements.
• Utilize production management software to handle work orders, lot control, and inventory tracking effectively.
• Coordinate routine minor cleaning and maintenance of production equipment within scheduled production timelines.
• Perform administrative tasks including updating operational metrics, managing time and attendance systems, and planning holidays.

Qualifications and Experience

• A Level 7 qualification in Business, Management, Production, Engineering, or a related field is advantageous.
• At least three years of supervisory experience leading production teams in a manufacturing setting.
• Proven leadership in managing, coaching, motivating, and organizing teams to meet objectives.
• Strong problem-solving mindset coupled with dedication to continuous process improvement.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to collaborate effectively across departments.
• High personal commitment to delivering top quality products.
• Proficient in computer usage with aptitude to swiftly adapt to bespoke production software systems.
• Ability to interpret technical documents, drawings, specifications, safety requirements, and operating procedures.

Working Environment and Other Requirements

Production work is conducted in an ISO Class 7 cleanroom environment requiring specific attire such as powder-free gloves, face masks, hairnets, cleanroom suits, and shoe covers. No shorts, loose-fitting clothing, or soiled/fuzzy apparel allowed. Smoking is prohibited due to contamination risks; therefore, candidates must be nonsmokers.
