About the role
New Era Technology is seeking an entry-level Support Engineer to work on client sites in New Plymouth, within the education sector. This is a hands-on, on-site role where you will be the first person people contact for IT help, using direct customer interaction and ticket management to keep issues moving toward resolution.
You’ll be part of a people-focused global organisation with more than 3,000 team members, built around collaboration, inclusion, and continuous learning. Working pattern
The role follows a 38-hour week: Monday to Thursday for 8 hours each day, and Friday for 6 hours. Some travel between sites may be required, so flexibility is important. A company vehicle is not provided. Applicants based near South Taranaki or Hawera would be preferred, although this is not mandatory.
Key duties
You will support non-technical users, identify problems, prioritise requests, and work through issues in a clear and customer-friendly way. You will also cooperate with other teams when a case needs further investigation or escalation. Accurate daily timesheets are part of the job, so attention to detail matters.
Required conditions
Applicants must be New Zealand citizens or hold permanent residency. A full or restricted New Zealand driver’s licence is also required.
Technical focus
Prior practical exposure to support or implementation work with the following technologies would be beneficial: Windows 11, Windows Server 2022, Azure Active Directory, FortiGate firewalls, Ruckus/HP/Allied Telesis switching, Ruckus/Aruba-HP/Aerohive wireless, and printers/copiers.
