About the role
Jump Energy is looking for a versatile Industrial Electrician or Electrical Engineer to step into an Electrical Manager position. This role reports to the Chief Operating Officer and covers the complete delivery cycle for EV charging and energy projects in commercial and industrial settings. The work spans design and estimation, support during installation, commissioning, ongoing maintenance, and customer relationship management. It is a strategic position that combines practical technical delivery, engineering know-how, project coordination, and direct client interaction.
Key responsibilities
- Take the lead on, or contribute to, the design and engineering of EV charging and energy solutions while ensuring they align with AS/NZS electrical standards, applicable regulations, legislation, and industry best practice.
- Create practical and cost-efficient electrical solutions and make sure they are delivered to a strong standard.
- Prepare wiring layouts, single-line diagrams, and installation specifications for electrical systems.
- Provide specialist technical support for EV charging infrastructure, battery energy storage systems (BESS), system integration, commissioning, and maintenance.
- Build accurate project costings, bill-of-materials lists, and labour estimates for EV charging and energy work.
- Work with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive pricing, maintain strong working relationships, and keep track of new technologies.
- Support the project delivery team in coordinating and managing EV charging and energy projects end to end, including electrical and construction oversight on site.
- Manage resourcing, schedules, subcontractors, and installation work to help ensure projects are completed to a high standard, on time, and within budget.
- Oversee service and maintenance commitments across both company-owned and customer-owned assets.
- Prepare technical reports, project files, operations and maintenance manuals, handover documentation, and safety records.
About you
You should be a New Zealand Registered Electrician or hold a relevant Electrical Engineering qualification. The role suits someone with experience in DC fast charging systems and battery energy storage systems, along with the ability to manage people, contractors, and cross-functional projects. Strong knowledge of high-voltage systems, power electronics, and DC systems is important, as are clear communication skills, solid diagnostics, and confident problem-solving. Experience in commercial scoping, quotations, tender preparation, and proposals will be valuable, and you should be comfortable using Microsoft Office and engineering software such as CAD or electrical drafting tools. A full New Zealand driver’s licence is required. Experience with Grid Connected Battery Storage systems design and installation under 4556 will be viewed favourably.
