Role overview

Iowa Ortho is hiring an experienced Data Analyst to support enterprise reporting and analytics within the Finance organization. Although the position sits in Finance, the main focus is building reporting solutions that serve teams across the business. The successful candidate will turn raw information into practical insights that help guide financial planning and day-to-day operational decisions.

What you will do

• Create, enhance, and support Power BI dashboards and reports.
• Develop, tune, and maintain SQL queries that pull and reshape data from several source systems.
• Use Microsoft Excel for analysis and reporting support.
• Work with operational, clinical, administrative, and leadership teams to understand reporting needs.
• Build and maintain data models that enable reliable, scalable reporting.
• Prepare recurring reports as well as one-off analyses for business use.
• Check data for accuracy, consistency, and integrity across systems and outputs.
• Convert complex datasets into clear visuals and insights that non-technical audiences can easily use.
• Look for ways to automate reporting and improve existing processes.
• Document data sources, definitions, and report logic so information remains easy to understand and maintain.
• Contribute to data governance and organization-wide standardization efforts.

What we are looking for

• A bachelor’s degree in Data Analytics, Information Systems, Business, or a similar discipline.
• Two to four years of practical experience working with SQL and Power BI.
• Strong SQL knowledge, including joins, unions, and temporary tables.
• Advanced Power BI experience covering data modeling, DAX, row-level security, and dashboard creation.
• Good understanding of analytics techniques, BI architecture, and data visualization standards.
• Ability to handle several projects at once, communicate findings clearly, and work with senior stakeholders.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving ability, and comfort working independently with limited supervision.
