The Data & Analytics function within the IT business is focused on turning data into tangible business impact for internal teams and external customers. The group works on improving products and services using proprietary and third-party data, building modern reporting solutions, delivering advanced analysis for better decisions, and helping spread data-driven thinking across the organization.
Role Overview
The Data Analyst will contribute to the development and rollout of data and analytics initiatives by helping connect business needs with data solutions. This role supports clean data integration, strong data quality, meaningful analysis, and clear visual storytelling through business intelligence tools.
Key Responsibilities
- Work with teams across marketing, product, finance, partner solutions, data engineering, and other functions to understand business goals and problem statements.
- Convert business questions into clear data and technical requirements that stay aligned with project objectives.
- Collect and assemble internal and external datasets in creative ways to support specific use cases.
- Maintain a strong focus on accuracy, completeness, and quality while handling large datasets.
- Communicate findings through reports and presentations adapted to different audiences.
- Collaborate with data engineers and data scientists to ensure pipelines and models support business goals.
- Identify data quality issues and suggest improvements across varied data sources.
- Recommend practical ways to combine separate data sources into a useful model for business needs.
- Build intuitive business insights and present them using Tableau, Excel, and other BI tools.
- Create interactive dashboards and reporting assets that support decision-making.
- Explore datasets to uncover patterns, trends, anomalies, and insights that may not be immediately obvious.
- Analyze customer behavior, market movement, and competitor activity to support product, sales, and marketing strategy.
- Use visual methods to make complex findings easy to understand and act on.
What You Should Bring
The ideal candidate is business-aware, curious, analytical, and confident in explaining data in a way that is useful to non-technical stakeholders. You should be comfortable questioning assumptions, looking for better approaches, working independently, and communicating clearly and professionally.
Technical Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in a quantitative discipline such as Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, or Engineering.
- At least 2 years of experience working as a Data Analyst.
- Strong working knowledge of SQL, Python, and Excel.
- Advanced ability in Tableau or similar business intelligence platforms.
- Familiarity with big data technologies such as HDFS and Spark.
- Exposure to cloud environments such as AWS and/or Azure.
- Understanding of spatial data, including geospatial formats like GeoJSON and Shapefiles, spatial analysis, and tools such as ArcGIS.
Compensation
The annual pay for this position is CAD 70,000 to CAD 90,000, and this range includes both base pay and target incentive compensation.
