Role overview

This position is for a Commis 1 at Marriott Executive Apartments in Doha, Qatar. It is a full-time, non-management role based on-site.

What you will do

You will support kitchen operations by preparing ingredients, handling basic food prep tasks, and assisting with cooking according to recipes, presentation rules, and quality standards. Your day-to-day work will include portioning, chopping, washing, peeling, weighing, mixing, and storing ingredients, as well as preparing cold items and operating kitchen equipment such as ovens, stoves, grills, microwaves, and fryers.

You will also check whether food is cooked properly, keep an eye on food quality during preparation, set up and close down the workstation, portion and serve food correctly, and clean and sanitize kitchen areas, tables, tools, knives, and equipment. In addition, you will verify that food and appliance temperatures are correct.

Work standards and conduct

All company, safety, and security procedures must be followed at all times. Any maintenance concerns, accidents, injuries, or unsafe conditions should be reported to the manager immediately. You are also expected to complete required safety training and certifications, maintain a clean and professional appearance, protect confidential information, safeguard company property, and communicate clearly and respectfully with colleagues.

The role requires strong teamwork, a positive attitude, and the ability to support shared goals while responding appropriately to coworker concerns. You must maintain the expected quality standards and be prepared for prolonged standing, sitting, or walking, along with bending, twisting, pulling, stooping, and lifting objects up to 25 pounds without help. Other reasonable duties may be assigned by supervisors.

Qualification requirements

The preferred education level is a high school diploma or GED equivalent. At least 1 year of relevant work experience is required. No supervisory background is needed, and no license or certification is specified.
