Role summary

The BIM Manager will guide BIM strategy and coordinate digital delivery across complex infrastructure projects in Abu Dhabi. This role covers roads, highways, bridges, wet and dry utilities, pump stations and plants, and public realm works, with responsibility spanning model coordination, standards compliance, stakeholder engagement, and team leadership.

Key responsibilities

Define and steer BIM strategy, including the BIM Execution Plan and MIDP/TIDP, in alignment with ISO 19650.
Oversee BIM delivery for roads, highways, bridges, utilities, pump stations, plants, and public realm assets from Level of Detail 100 through 350.
Apply BIM workflows across 4D to 7D, including cost-loaded 5D platforms and Power BI reporting dashboards.
Make sure BIM teams, digital delivery groups, and project stakeholders understand and follow BIM QA/QC procedures.
Coordinate multidisciplinary models and manage clash detection and issue resolution.
Set up and maintain Common Data Environments such as ACC, BIM 360, and ProjectWise.
Ensure project delivery aligns with the requirements of UAE authorities and developers, including ADM/DMT, RTA, DEWA, DM ITC, TAQA-WS, ADDC, Aldar, and others across Dubai and the Northern Emirates.
Serve as the main BIM contact for clients, authorities, contractors, and other stakeholders.
Lead, mentor, and develop BIM teams, including support for recruitment and capability building.
Promote digital innovation, automation, and structured asset information handover.

Skills and abilities

Advanced proficiency in Revit, Civil 3D, Navisworks, and Dynamo scripting.
Strong working knowledge of Autodesk Construction Cloud.
Understanding of Dynamo, GIS integration, IFC, and digital handover requirements.
Ability to manage horizontal and vertical utility displacement and apply sound engineering judgment.
Experience building BIM libraries and working in line with ADQCC standards.
Strong leadership capability for managing BIM coordinators and digital delivery staff.
Clear communication and coordination skills.
High standards for quality control, governance, and detail.
Proven background in UAE or GCC infrastructure projects.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably civil, infrastructure, or a related discipline.
ISO 19650 certification is an added advantage.
Additional BIM or Autodesk certifications are preferred.

Travel

No travel is required for this position.

Background checks and testing

CDM Smith may require background screening for certain positions, which can include criminal history, employment verification, education, licensure, and where applicable, credit and motor vehicle checks. Drug testing may also be required for designated roles. For positions outside the United States, any background check will occur only after an interview, and the timing will depend on local law. Criminal history will be reviewed after qualified interviews and will not automatically rule out a candidate. During employment, additional background checks and drug testing may be requested by CDM Smith or by a client.

Additional compensation

Bonuses are discretionary at CDM Smith and may or may not be offered for this role.
