Role overview
SSP Canada runs multiple food outlets at Victoria International Airport, such as Tim Hortons, Spinnakers on the Fly, and Fresh Cup. The baker role supports daily bakery production in a secure airport setting and requires the ability to obtain airport security clearance, including a Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC).
Compensation and benefits
- Pay is $21.80 per hour, plus participation in a tip pool.

Security and work authorization
This position is based in a restricted airport area, so candidates must be legally allowed to work in Canada and able to supply the government documents needed for airport security screening. Verification of these documents will take place during onboarding in line with Transport Canada requirements.
What the role involves
- Prepare breads, pies, cakes, cookies, and other baked items using production and catering sheets, while helping plan output for daily demand.
- Use approved recipes, standard methods, and the correct equipment to ensure food is prepared properly.
- Complete production logs, including waste records, used and unused portions, and shortages, and alert a supervisor when supplies are running low.
- Maintain correct presentation, product quality, portioning, and holding temperatures.
- Keep the work area, tools, equipment, and utensils clean, organized, and sanitary.
- Work steadily and accurately during busy periods while staying calm and efficient.
- Confirm that food is displayed, served, and presented according to standards.
- Set up the kitchen or station each day by requesting and stocking food items, paper goods, and condiments.
- Store, handle, and rotate ingredients and finished products correctly.
- Complete all tasks listed on the daily prep and baking PAR sheet.
Skills and experience
- At least 6 months of experience in a food service setting is required.
- High school education is preferred.
- Strong spoken and written English is needed to communicate with guests and take orders.
- Experience handling customer service issues and complaints is important.
- Ability to stand for long periods and work in confined spaces is necessary.
