Role overview
This is a permanent Assistant Category Manager opportunity based in Favona, Auckland. You’ll join a fast-moving commercial team and play a key part in helping shape category plans that work better for shoppers, are easier for stores to execute, and support both financial and non-financial goals.

What you’ll do
- Support the Category Manager in delivering category plans and promotional activity that contributes to sales, profit, and market share outcomes.
- Improve the promotional plan by working through promotion frequency, discount depth, funding, and timing while keeping customer value front and centre.
- Use data and insights to design offers that are driven by customer needs and deliver a strong return on investment.
- Apply sales-driving tactics across customer-facing activity such as brochures, sales planning, and event space.
- Work with suppliers to negotiate promotional funding and execution in line with key performance measures.
- Partner with internal stakeholders such as Category, Marketing, Online, Replenishment, and Promotions teams to ensure promotional plans are implemented effectively.
What you’ll bring
- Prior experience as an Assistant Category Manager is preferred.
- Strong negotiation and influencing ability.
- A curious mindset, a willingness to learn, and experience working with cross-functional teams in changing environments.
- Well-developed organisation and time-management skills.
- Sound commercial judgment and business understanding.
- Strong relationship-building and interpersonal skills.
- Clear verbal and written communication skills.
- Confident computer skills, including solid ability with Excel and Google applications.
