About the Role

The Language SKOOL is seeking a Chief Executive Officer to lead its next phase of growth as a remote-first, pan-India organisation. The company has already built a large-scale learning business with more than 600 team members and thousands of learners, and is now looking for a senior leader to shape strategy, strengthen performance, and guide the organisation into its next chapter. Strategic Vision

  • Create and steer TLS’s long-term vision, mission, and strategic direction in close alignment with the Founder and Board.

  • Work with the Sales and Marketing leaders to define and deliver sales objectives.
  • Guide pricing, investment choices, and capital allocation decisions.
  • Share forecasts, performance updates, and strategic plans with the Founder and Board.

Governance, Compliance, and Board Relations

  • Report directly to the Executive Chairman (Founder) and Board, ensuring clear, timely, and reliable communication.
  • Maintain compliance with all statutory, regulatory, and legal requirements across every state where the organisation operates.
  • Put strong governance systems, internal controls, and audit preparedness in place.
  • Handle principal-level interactions with investors, legal counsel, and other key external stakeholders.

Leadership, Culture, and Organisation Building

  • Lead and motivate a senior leadership team that can execute effectively at scale.
  • Protect and strengthen TLS’s culture, values, and people philosophy across a distributed workforce of over 600 employees.
  • Improve engagement, motivation, and performance across the organisation.
  • Oversee senior hiring, succession planning, and leadership development.

Operational Oversight

  • Monitor business operations through functional leaders across Sales, Marketing, Technology, HR, Finance, and Operations.
  • Track KPIs, metrics, and OKRs regularly and make decisive course corrections when needed.
  • Drive efficiency, scalability, and quality improvements across all teams.
  • Ensure staffing remains balanced so the organisation is neither overextended nor under-resourced.

External Representation

  • Act as the organisation’s public face for industry bodies, media, government interactions, and strategic partnerships.
  • Build strong relationships with partners, institutional clients, and community stakeholders.
  • Represent TLS’s mission of language access, employability, and immigration support with credibility and authenticity.

Ideal Background

The organisation is looking for a seasoned executive with 25+ years of progressive leadership experience, including 8–10 years in a CEO, Managing Director, or comparable role with full P&L ownership. An MBA from a leading institution such as IIM, ISB, XLRI, or a similar school is strongly preferred. Experience leading a workforce of 500 or more, especially in a remote or distributed setup, is highly desirable. Prior exposure to ed-tech, test prep, e-learning, or consumer internet businesses would be an added advantage.
