Overview
Morson Edge is hiring an experienced Interaction / UX Designer for a 6-month contract supporting a major transformation programme within a large UK public sector organisation. The work is tied to a significant service change initiative, likely connected to the circular economy portfolio, with a focus on improving digital experiences and user outcomes.
This is a chance to contribute to user-centred services with tangible environmental and social value.
What you will do
- Develop polished interaction and UX solutions for digital services.
- Turn user research findings into practical user journeys and interaction approaches.
- Build wireframes, prototypes, and other design materials to explain concepts and solutions.
- Work closely with product managers, developers, researchers, and wider stakeholders.
- Make sure designs follow GDS principles and established best practice.
- Help with service assessments and ongoing improvements to live services.
- Support the creation of design patterns that can be reused and scaled.
Requirements
- Background as an Interaction Designer or UX Designer in digital delivery settings.
- Strong hands-on experience applying GDS standards on government or public sector work.
- Capability to design complete user journeys for complex services.
- Comfort working in agile, multidisciplinary teams.
- Solid prototyping ability using tools such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, or similar.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience contributing to service transformation or redesign initiatives.
Contract details
This is an outside IR35 engagement paying £400 per day. The assignment is expected to run for 6 months initially. The role is based in Manchester, with onsite attendance required once every two weeks. The start is immediate / ASAP.
