Role overview
This role is for a Senior Engineer, Maintenance (Electrical) based in Abu Dhabi to support an ADNOC project. The position focuses on ensuring electrical assets, distribution networks, and SCADA systems are operated and maintained according to internationally accepted engineering and maintenance standards.

Key responsibilities
- Contribute technical input to revise company specifications so they reflect current industry practices and lessons learned.
- Investigate difficult engineering issues and implement practical solutions that keep maintenance work safe and efficient.
- Represent the plant in power grid coordination and related studies.
- Coordinate work and switching activities with ADNOC Refinery/GUP, specifically for Ruwais.
- Coordinate work and switching activities with TRANSCO, ADWEA, ADNOC-OS, and Habshan-5 (SGP).
- Observe factory acceptance tests, site acceptance tests, pre-commissioning, and commissioning to confirm compliance with approved design and construction documents.
- Ensure electrical equipment is maintained in accordance with HSECES guidelines and MAT requirements.
- Review material stocks regularly, recommend specification updates, remove obsolete items, include new items, and support spare and material availability.
- Oversee electrical contractors through audits and weekly meetings, identify performance gaps, and suggest corrective improvements aligned with service agreements.
- Perform root cause analysis, identify equipment failure drivers, and recommend actions to prevent recurrence.
- Assess the residual life of critical electrical assets and advise area engineers on corrective measures.
- Review failure reports, identify recurring problem equipment, and drive corrective action and improvement plans.
- Prepare and contribute to capital, EOM, MM, operating, and 5-year business plan budgets, while tracking and controlling spending.
- Support reliability and availability of electrical systems and equipment.
- Help integrate new facilities, including plant upgrades, modifications, and new trains.
- Carry out site studies to test the feasibility of changes that improve plant reliability and efficiency.
- Review and initiate plant change requests, and assess proposed modifications for technical and operational viability.
- Define scope for major overhauls, service work orders, and mini-projects, and coordinate execution with other sections.
- Support technical and small projects by developing scope, overseeing execution, and assisting with commissioning.
- Build and optimize support from vendors, OEMs, and specialist contractors, including arranging specialist services when required.
- Evaluate bids for service work orders and service agreements from a technical perspective.
- Check contractor designs against the scope of work and confirm delivered facilities are safe, reliable, operable, and maintainable.
- Prepare monthly and annual management information reports, including expenditure profiles, presentations, and other ad hoc reporting.
- Follow Electrical Safety Rules and Electrical Safety Procedures to ensure safe handling of fixed and portable electrical equipment for employees and contractors.
- Work with Projects, Engineering, and Integrity & OE teams on studies, site issues, and project scope development.
- Plan and execute predictive maintenance and reliability-centered maintenance programs for electrical equipment to improve availability and power system reliability.
- Plan, coordinate, organize, and supervise predictive and preventive maintenance programs for HVAC equipment to improve equipment and system reliability.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree is mandatory.
- At least 15 years of overall experience in EPC contract execution within the oil and gas sector.
- At least 8 years of experience in engineering and maintenance of electrical equipment in a large industrial environment.
- Background in gas processing, NGL, and EPC/detail engineering projects.
- Working knowledge of industry standards and codes relevant to oil and gas, including API, ANSI, NEMA, NFPA, NEC/IEC, and similar frameworks.
- Strong understanding of monitoring and predictive maintenance programs for electrical systems.
- Knowledge of transformers, switchgear, motor controls, protection and control systems, SCADA, and variable frequency drives.
- Practical exposure to PLC integration with power management systems using modern communication protocols.
- Ability to handle complex electrical engineering and maintenance challenges involving HV systems, protection systems, automation, power control systems, variable speed drives, UPS, and related equipment.
- Good understanding of electrical safety rules, HSE procedures, planning, scheduling, coordination, checking, examination, and record keeping.
- Experience on mega oil and gas FEED/EPC projects valued above US$1 billion.
