This remote contract opportunity is centered on research operations and administration. The work involves building realistic research administration environments that reflect how institutions actually operate, including their systems, documentation, and cross-team workflows.

The engagement is fully remote and can be handled asynchronously, allowing you to manage your own schedule. Compensation starts on an hourly basis, with a planned shift toward output-linked pay that reflects quality and productivity. Work may continue through extended project phases depending on performance and changing needs.

What you’ll do

You will create detailed digital workspaces that mirror real processes used for grants, budgets, compliance, financial reporting, and related operational records. The role also includes designing multi-step tasks that connect multiple functions and resemble genuine research administration work.

You will work with subject matter experts to improve the realism of the tasks, strengthen the evaluation approach, and maintain high benchmarking standards. The assignment requires translating actual research administration activities into structured task definitions and review criteria.

Requirements and experience

Applicants should have practical knowledge of grants management, sponsored programs, research compliance, or core facility operations. Strong writing and analytical skills are important for turning complex institutional workflows into clear, usable task structures.

Familiarity with tools and environments such as SharePoint, Box, DocuSign, and workforce platforms is valuable. You should also be comfortable working independently while collaborating asynchronously with cross-functional experts to refine and quality-check work.

Compensation and engagement terms

The rate for this role is $45 to $65 per hour. Payments are made weekly through Stripe or Wise, based on completed services. The arrangement begins as an hourly contract and may later move to an output-based model tied to quality and throughput.

Project extensions are possible over time if performance remains strong and requirements evolve.
