Project Risk Controller

Role overview

The Project Risk Controller will oversee project risk identification, evaluation, mitigation, and tracking while turning complex project information into polished presentations, dashboards, and governance-ready reports. Working within PMO governance and alongside the Project Planner, Project Control Engineer, and delivery teams from engineering, procurement, and construction, this role helps ensure that leadership receives accurate and timely insight into project status, risk exposure, and performance trends. The objective is to support delivery against scope, cost, schedule, quality, safety, and compliance targets.

Key responsibilities

• Bring together project information from engineering, procurement, construction, finance, and contractor teams, then convert it into clear, structured, and decision-focused management communication materials.
• Create high-quality presentations, executive briefs, dashboards, and senior reporting packs that communicate project progress, trend movement, risk exposure, key issues, and proposed actions in line with PMO Head expectations and governance standards.
• Work with the Project Planner and Project Control Engineer to collect validated schedule, cost, and progress data and combine it with risk analysis to produce integrated outlooks, trend reviews, and visually strong reporting tools.
• Deliver project updates, risk summaries, and performance reporting in governance meetings and management reviews, simplifying technical and commercial information into concise, actionable messages for decision-makers.
• Build and maintain consistent presentation templates, reporting structures, and visual communication formats to ensure professionalism and alignment with corporate standards across all project reporting outputs.
• Set up and maintain the project risk management structure, keep the risk register updated with qualitative and quantitative assessments, and translate risk findings into management-ready reports and presentations.
• Follow up on risk mitigation actions and contingency measures with discipline leads, ensuring status updates are accurately reflected in governance reports and management presentations.
• Coordinate with contracts, procurement, and other project stakeholders to gather risk and performance input for briefing packs and summary materials used in senior leadership reviews.
• Ensure all reports, presentations, and related communication materials are version-controlled and archived with Document Controllers, while meeting governance rules, corporate reporting standards, and confidentiality requirements.
• Continuously improve the clarity, analytical quality, and visual presentation of all project communication outputs.

Education and experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related discipline.
• MBA in Business Management.
• 10 to 15 years of experience in project risk management, project controls, or project coordination in large-scale plant construction, oil & gas, power, or industrial infrastructure projects.
• EPC project experience is strongly preferred.
• Solid understanding of project execution, stakeholder coordination, and risk management practices in Saudi Arabian industrial projects.
• Background in project reporting, coordination meetings, interface management, and action tracking is preferred.
• Experience on large plant construction projects is highly desirable.
