About the Company

This opportunity sits with a respected engineering and construction group that delivers complex infrastructure work with significant value across energy, industrial, and data centre environments. The organisation operates in demanding, fast-moving project settings and gives team members broad project exposure while working alongside experienced delivery professionals on technically challenging builds.

Role Overview

The position is a site-based Project Engineer role with responsibility for coordinating Mechanical & Electrical (M&E) activities and ensuring they integrate smoothly with civil and structural works. You will be the main point of connection between M&E, civils, design, and construction teams, helping keep all disciplines aligned, safe, and progressing to programme and specification.

Project Delivery & Coordination

  • Organise, plan, and sequence M&E packages on site.
  • Work with the Project Manager to support programme targets and trade sequencing.
  • Run coordination meetings involving M&E and civil teams.
  • Make sure installation activities stay aligned with programme needs and site restrictions.

Civils and M&E Interface

  • Coordinate M&E services alongside civil works such as ducting, foundations, and drainage.
  • Check drawings to spot and resolve clashes between disciplines.
  • Match civil construction with M&E needs, including cable routes, plinths, and underground services.
  • Plan trade sequencing carefully to reduce delay and rework.

Technical Support

  • Review drawings, specifications, and technical submittals.
  • Raise RFIs and help close out design questions.
  • Support subcontractors and site teams with technical input.
  • Ensure work is delivered in line with relevant standards and project specifications.

Site Supervision and Progress Tracking

  • Oversee subcontractor activity and monitor site progress.
  • Measure productivity and package performance.
  • Prepare regular progress updates and reports.
  • Highlight issues and put mitigation actions in place where needed.

Quality, Commissioning and Handover

  • Make sure QA/QC processes and ITPs are properly followed.
  • Carry out inspections and manage any non-conformances.
  • Assist with testing, commissioning, and system integration.
  • Oversee snagging, as-built records, and handover completion.

Health, Safety and Environment

  • Encourage and enforce safe working practices across all disciplines on site.
  • Contribute to risk assessments and method statements.
  • Help coordinate multi-discipline activity safely and efficiently.

Commercial and Reporting

  • Support cost control, procurement activity, and subcontractor coordination.
  • Track variations caused by interface-related issues.
  • Provide regular updates on commercial position, programme status, and risk.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate will have a degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Building Services Engineering, or an equivalent qualification. A background of 3 to 5 years in construction, EPC, or site-based M&E roles is required, along with proven experience delivering M&E packages on site. Strong hands-on exposure to coordination with civil or structural works is essential. You should be able to interpret multi-disciplinary drawings, understand construction sequencing and site logistics, communicate clearly with stakeholders, and work confidently with MS Office. Familiarity with AutoCAD or a similar tool is also beneficial.

Preferred Experience

It would be an advantage to have worked on energy, data centre, or industrial projects. Previous exposure to commissioning and handover activities is also useful, as is experience in fast-paced EPC or turnkey environments.

Why This Role Stands Out

  • Opportunity to contribute to complex infrastructure projects with high impact.
  • Strong exposure to both M&E delivery and civils interfaces, a highly valuable technical combination.
  • Significant site ownership and responsibility.
  • Collaborative setting with multiple disciplines working together.
  • Clear potential to progress into senior engineering or project management positions.
