Job overview
This role supports medical surveillance work across clinical studies, with responsibilities that include reviewing clinical laboratory data for study participants, preparing medical narratives, and coordinating with investigator sites.
Key responsibilities
- Act as the overall lead for a medical surveillance assignment that involves guiding a team of medical surveillance specialists.
- Handle project-specific training, day-to-day delivery, communication flow, and quality checks.
- Set up new studies and establish study-specific processes in coordination with Sponsor/IQVIA physicians, IQVIA Laboratories or the relevant central laboratory project manager/data manager, laboratory subject matter experts for local lab studies, and the Clinical Team Project Manager.
- Represent the medical surveillance function in client discussions, project team meetings, and investigator meetings.
- Work with the project team to share critical updates that may affect study goals, verify site performance, and communicate findings to the project team and Sponsor/IQVIA physicians.
- Liaise with the central laboratory or local laboratory setup team to make sure subject lab result reporting follows protocol requirements.
- Resolve remote data access issues by coordinating with IT and central laboratory teams, and escalate reporting problems proactively.
- Use clinical laboratory expertise to spot important trends or changes in lab results and alert Sponsor/IQVIA physicians as needed.
- Keep the project team informed of information that could influence study outcomes.
- Where required, verify site performance and share updates with the project team and Sponsor/IQVIA physicians.
- Maintain current laboratory knowledge through continuing education, learning modules, journal reading, and attendance at medical seminars.
Requirements
- Degree or background in life sciences or allied health sciences, including pharmacy, biochemistry, microbiology, biotechnology, nursing, medical laboratory sciences, or physiotherapy.
- Medical or dental background is also acceptable, including allopathy, homeopathy, Ayurveda, or dentistry.
- 6 to 10 years of relevant professional experience.
- At least 4 years of medical surveillance experience, including a minimum of 2 years in a lead role, or an equivalent mix of education, training, and experience.
