Material Handler

The Opportunity

Avantor is recruiting a Materials Controller for its Limerick site on a full-time basis. The role involves rotating 12-hour daytime shifts and is carried out at a customer location within a laboratory support setting, helping ensure efficient day-to-day operations for scientific teams.

This position may suit candidates with experience in retail, warehousing, customer service, or hospitality, although applicants from other backgrounds are welcome because full training will be provided. It is a good fit for someone who enjoys a busy environment, works carefully, and wants to build experience in the pharmaceutical sector.

The Team

You will be part of a close-knit group responsible for supporting laboratory inventory activities and keeping operations running smoothly.

What We’re Looking For

• Completed high school or an equivalent qualification, such as the Leaving Certificate.
• Previous exposure to material handling, stock replenishment, warehousing, or customer service would be beneficial.
• Experience with stores, warehouse work, or stock control is also an advantage.
• A strong customer-focused mindset and the ability to work well with others are important.
• Excellent accuracy and strong communication skills are required.
• Any knowledge of GxP practices would be welcome.
• Good computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook, are preferred.

Working Shifts

• Week 1: work Monday and Tuesday, then be off Wednesday and Thursday, and return to work Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
• Week 2: be off Monday and Tuesday, work Wednesday and Thursday, then be off Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

Who You Are

• You are comfortable taking on challenges and are willing to get fully involved in the work.
• You hold a driving licence, have your own vehicle, and can travel to Limerick without difficulty.
• You enjoy roles that involve direct support for customers.

How You Will Make an Impact

• Manage stock by preparing and maintaining items for organised storage, carrying out daily cycle counts, keeping inventory records accurate, and investigating any mismatches.
• Handle point-of-use supply needs by ordering replenishment items online, delivering goods to customer locations, tracking usage trends, and preparing weekly reports.
• Support warehouse operations by receiving incoming deliveries, identifying damaged or defective products, taking the correct follow-up action, and moving or storing stock manually or with equipment.
• Look for ways to improve service quality and help put those improvements into practice.
