Role overview
As Manager, Solution Engineering, you will lead the Solution Engineering function in Germany and help shape coverage across Continental Europe. This is a player-coach position that combines team leadership with direct participation in customer pursuits, solution discovery, and revenue growth support.
What you'll do
- Guide, coach, and grow a high-performing Solution Engineering team in a fast-moving, high-growth environment.
- Hire, onboard, and keep strong Solution Engineering talent aligned to expansion plans.
- Create and run a scalable Solution Engineering approach for Germany and wider Continental Europe.
- Distribute team capacity efficiently across territories to support commercial priorities and maximise results.
- Provide regular coaching, performance reviews, and constructive feedback to team members.
- Stay hands-on as a Solution Engineering leader by supporting strategic opportunities and customer discussions.
- Drive growth by showing business value, delivering persuasive product demos, and helping prospects picture success with Freshworks.
- Build repeatable systems, programmes, and best practices that can scale with the region.
- Work closely with Sales Leadership to improve pipeline quality, forecasting accuracy, and win rates.
- Partner with Product Management and Product Marketing to influence product direction and represent customer needs.
- Act as a trusted advisor to internal and external stakeholders, including senior executives, by bringing both business and technical perspective.
- Create competitive positioning and enablement plans that strengthen market performance.
What we're looking for
You should bring proven experience leading and developing successful pre-sales teams, along with a strong background in Solution Engineering, Sales Engineering, or Pre-Sales, ideally within Europe. The role requires business-level fluency in both German and English, a practical leadership style, and the ability to influence across a matrix organisation. Strong communication, presentation, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration skills are essential.
Preferred background
Experience in IT Service Management is an advantage, as is familiarity with enterprise software sales cycles and customer engagement approaches. Exposure to competitive playbooks and enablement work with Product Marketing would be beneficial. A bachelor's degree is preferred, while a master's degree is a plus but not mandatory.
