Role overview

Places for People is looking for a skilled joiner to work locally across domestic homes in Leicester and the surrounding patch. This is a permanent, full-time field-based role where you will help maintain and improve customers’ homes while working within a supportive, community-focused organisation.

Main duties

• Carry out joinery fitting and repair work in residential properties
• Complete tasks including doors, kitchens, flooring and internal fittings
• Work in line with job specifications, reports and required quality standards
• Keep customers’ homes and belongings protected while carrying out the work
• Liaise with supervisors, schedulers and other colleagues to meet deadlines
• Log completed work and maintain the necessary records and paperwork
• Help apprentices develop and contribute to team results and performance targets

How the role works day to day

• Following a planned diary of repairs and maintenance jobs
• Travelling between assignments in the company vehicle
• Working alone or alongside other trades professionals
• Dealing directly with customers in their homes
• Delivering efficient work while meeting quality and compliance expectations

• Occupied homes
• Empty or void properties
• Various domestic properties in the local area
• Settings that may involve vulnerable customers

Required qualifications and experience

• NVQ Level 2 in Joinery, or an equivalent qualification
• Previous experience as a joiner, preferably in social housing or domestic settings
• Full UK driving licence
• Based within the LE postcode area because of the patch covered

Preferred but not essential

• Experience across more than one trade
• Comfort using IT systems, or a willingness to learn digital tools

Hiring and onboarding

• A Basic DBS check is required for this role
