Role Overview
The Human Resources Manager serves as both a strategic partner and an operational lead. Working closely with senior leaders and field teams, this person helps strengthen organizational performance, support a compliant and engaged workforce, and ensure HR practices align with business goals. The role goes beyond standard HR support and requires trusted guidance, balanced judgment, and a strong grasp of employment regulations.
Key parts of the role include employee relations, workplace investigations, compliance oversight, HR process improvement, HR systems support, metrics analysis, talent management support, and change management. The ideal candidate is proactive, influential across levels, and able to reinforce a culture that reflects the organization’s values.
Responsibilities
- Act as the first point of escalation for employee relations concerns within assigned regions.
- Investigate complex workplace matters with fairness, discretion, and confidentiality.
- Coach managers on performance issues, corrective action, and employee growth.
- Analyze turnover patterns at the root-cause level and help implement retention actions.
- Run stay interviews, exit interviews, and employee listening activities to improve engagement.
- Make sure HR practices comply with federal, state, and local laws, including FLSA, EEOC, and I-9 requirements.
- Carry out regular personnel file checks and prepare records to stand up to audits.
- Manage I-9 verification and audit activities with accuracy and promptness.
- Evaluate background screening results when determining hiring eligibility.
- Keep the employee handbook, HR policies, procedures, and job descriptions current.
- Support regulatory filings and audit readiness efforts.
- Help improve HR systems, maintain data quality, and resolve HRIS issues, with ADP preferred.
- Use HR data and reporting to support decisions and process enhancements.
- Identify ways to reduce manual work and standardize HR operations across regions.
- Work with leadership on workforce planning, organizational design, and talent initiatives.
- Assist with growth-related efforts, including mergers and acquisitions and organizational change management.
- Guide teams through transitions and help ensure changes are implemented smoothly.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of progressive experience in HR roles such as HR Business Partner, HR Generalist, or Employee Relations specialist.
- Solid experience in employee relations, workplace investigations, compliance, and audit activities.
- Strong understanding of employment law and current HR best practices.
- Practical experience using HRIS platforms, preferably ADP.
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related area.
- SHRM-CP or PHR certification is preferred.
- Experience in multi-site settings or healthcare organizations is preferred.
- Exposure to mergers and acquisitions or organizational change management is preferred.
- Strong analytical ability and experience preparing HR reports.
