Role Overview

This position is for an L1 NOC Engineer who will keep a close watch on network and security infrastructure, handle incidents at first level, and carry out initial troubleshooting. The role calls for practical exposure to FortiGate firewalls, switching, routing, and day-to-day support work in a Network Operations Center environment.

Education and Experience

The role requires a BE/BTech qualification. A CCNA certification is preferred. Candidates should have at least 2 years of relevant experience, with overall experience in the range of 2 to 4 years.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver round-the-clock shift support for security platforms and related services.
  • Review and work through the L1-assigned alert queue, including detailed examination of security alerts.
  • Track network links, devices, and IT infrastructure through NMS tools and ensure alerts are handled within SLA targets.
  • Carry out first-response diagnosis for link failures, latency, packet loss, and device reachability concerns.
  • Raise, update, and monitor incidents in the ticketing system while following the escalation process.
  • Work with ISPs and internal stakeholders to restore services quickly.
  • Perform basic troubleshooting such as connectivity validation, interface checks, and physical verification with local support teams.
  • Keep incident records, daily operational reports, and SOP compliance documentation up to date.
  • Share timely incident updates and coordination messages with stakeholders.

Technical Requirements

  • Working knowledge of FortiGate firewall monitoring and basic configuration.
  • Understanding of firewall policies, NAT, VPNs, and log review.
  • Ability to assist with rule setup, verification, and issue resolution.
  • Capability to monitor and respond to security events and alerts.
  • Hands-on familiarity with routing protocols such as BGP, ISIS, and OSPF.
  • Experience with Cisco and FortiGate firewall environments.
  • Basic troubleshooting knowledge for routers, switches, firewalls, and VPN technologies.
  • Exposure to NMS tools such as SolarWinds, PRTG, Nagios, or Zabbix.
  • Comfort using diagnostic commands like ping, traceroute, interface checks, and port or VLAN verification.
  • Experience working with ticketing platforms such as ServiceNow, Remedy, or Jira.
  • Strong communication skills, analytical thinking, and readiness to work in a 24x7 NOC setup.

Preferred Certifications

CCNA, Network+, and ITIL Foundation are preferred but optional.

Work Environment

This is a full-time onsite role based in Pune Division, Maharashtra, India.
