Role Overview
This contract opportunity is for a Data Scientist supporting an AI lab partner focused on intelligent agent-based systems. The work centers on analytics, experimentation, and building data infrastructure that turns large datasets into practical insights for improving autonomous systems.
What You Will Work On
- Create and refine data collection and preprocessing pipelines for both structured and unstructured inputs coming from multiple agent simulations.
- Develop and improve machine learning models used for performance prediction, behavior clustering, and outcome optimization.
- Build dashboards and visualization assets to track agent benchmarks, performance trends, and other key indicators.
- Run statistical studies to assess how AI systems perform across different environments and constraints.
- Partner with engineering teams to define evaluation methods that measure reasoning quality, adaptability, and efficiency.
- Prototype data-driven feedback loops and tools that help improve model accuracy and agent behavior over time.
- Work with AI research teams to convert experimental findings into scalable, production-ready insights.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Strong foundation in data science, machine learning, or applied statistics.
- Hands-on ability with Python and SQL, plus familiarity with Pandas, NumPy, Scikit-learn, and PyTorch or TensorFlow.
- Working understanding of probabilistic modeling, statistical inference, and experimentation methods such as A/B testing and causal inference.
- Comfort with cleaning, transforming, and structuring complex datasets for analysis and modeling.
- Experience building and assessing predictive models using metrics like precision, recall, F1-score, and ROC-AUC.
- Exposure to large-scale data platforms such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or comparable systems.
- Interest in AI agents and in using data to influence reasoning, adaptability, and system behavior.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with engineers and research scientists to define KPIs and experiment designs.
Work Arrangement and Compensation
You will be engaged as an hourly contractor. Payment is processed weekly through Stripe Connect and is based on hours recorded. The role is part-time, with expected availability of 20 to 40 hours per week, and it is fully remote with asynchronous scheduling so you can work from anywhere on your own timetable. A weekly bonus of USD 500 to USD 1000 is available per 5 tasks created.
Additional Information
hackajob is working with Mercor to connect qualified professionals with this opportunity.
The core objective of this position is to design and implement robust data models, pipelines, and metrics that support experimentation, benchmarking, and continuous learning for agentic AI systems. The focus is on generating insights into how agents reason, perform, and improve over time across algorithmic and real-world tasks.
This role is especially appealing to candidates who want to work at the frontier of AI agent intelligence, combine machine learning with experimentation and data engineering, and contribute to new benchmark and feedback mechanisms for advanced systems.
