Data Engineer - Contract - Auckland

Role Overview

An urgent contract opportunity is available for a Data Engineer based in Auckland, New Zealand.

Key Requirements

• At least 5 years of professional experience is required.
• Strong Python expertise is essential, including practical use of Pandas, PySpark, and boto3.
• Experience building and managing workflows in Apache Airflow, specifically MWAA, is expected.
• Hands-on knowledge of Amazon Redshift for analytics and data warehousing is needed.
• Good command of SQL, along with data modeling and transformation work, is necessary.
• Experience with Amazon S3 and designing data lake architectures should be comfortable territory.
• You should be familiar with core AWS services such as EC2, S3, IAM, and Lambda.
• Working knowledge of AWS Secrets Manager and AWS KMS for secure access management is required.
• Exposure to ETL and ELT platforms such as AWS Glue and AWS Athena is beneficial.
• Understanding of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipeline workflows is expected.
• Prior work in agile delivery teams and data-centric environments is preferred.
• Ability to read and understand JavaScript, particularly Node.js and Express, is required.
• Excellent communication skills are important for this role.

Engagement Duration

The contract is for 6 months, with a possibility of extension.
