Position overview
This is a permanent full-time appointment due to begin in Term 4 2026. The department is also willing to consider applicants seeking part-time work at a reduced FTE.
The Student Engagement and Wellbeing Directorate leads system-level priorities and initiatives that strengthen student engagement and wellbeing, while also providing professional learning, tools and resources that build capability across schools.
The Road Safety and Drug Education branch designs and delivers targeted prevention education aimed at reducing road trauma and harms linked to alcohol and other drug use. Its strategies and resources support teachers and schools to deliver evidence-based road safety and alcohol and other drug education programs.
The role
The coordinator will support the planning, delivery and review of road safety and drug education initiatives. This position works closely with school leaders as well as government and non-government organisations to help schools deliver these programs across the state.
Based in the Wheatbelt, the role also provides access to practical assistance, professional learning and resources focused on road safety and drug education. You will collaborate with colleagues across Statewide Services on shared priorities so that schools receive integrated support throughout the state.

Eligibility and other conditions
- Applicants must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, a permanent resident, or hold a valid visa with appropriate work rights for the full appointment period.
- Consent is required for a Nationally Coordinated Criminal History Check, and a current Screening Clearance Number from the Department of Education Screening Unit must be obtained before commencement.
- A recognised teaching qualification is required, along with current registration or eligibility for registration to teach in Western Australia.
- A current C-class driver’s licence must be held and maintained.
- The position involves statewide travel, including overnight stays in metropolitan and non-metropolitan areas, and travel by small aircraft to remote locations where required.
- A current Working with Children Check must be held or obtained.

Submission requirements include a CV of up to three pages that outlines employment history and relevant professional learning, plus a three-page statement addressing the selection criteria from the Job Description Form.
Selection criteria include strong knowledge of teaching and learning practice, experience with implementing and reviewing support programs, excellent communication and relationship-building skills, the ability to respond to change with innovative solutions, and strong written communication and presentation skills for reports, briefings and similar documents.
