About the Role
This position sits within a busy construction setting where every project brings its own challenges, from new-build brownfield developments to the refurbishment of existing structures such as former factories and hospitals. The work involves supporting site operations, handling materials, and helping maintain safe, orderly, and efficient working conditions across live housing developments.
The role reports to the Site Manager and is responsible for completing Site Operative/Material Controller duties to a high standard and within agreed timeframes.
Key Duties
- Complete site tasks exactly as directed by the Site Manager and in accordance with BDW standards and procedures.
- Monitor all signage around the site, including sales boards, plot signs, and safety notices, and keep them clean and in good condition.
- Take ownership of health and safety on site and escalate any breaches to the Site Manager.
- Ensure any fixed materials are protected by the subcontractor that installs them, following BDW procedures.
- Keep protective coverings in place for as long as possible and alert the Site Manager if anyone removes or damages them.
- Maintain the compound and welfare areas.
- Make sure all plots under construction remain tidy for all trades.
- Carry out a daily walkaround of plots under construction and remove any excess materials left on site.
- Separate and recycle waste across the site in line with BDW group guidelines.
- Check show home gardens and public open spaces weekly and remove any litter that may have blown into these areas.
