Role overview
The Sales Manager is responsible for acquiring and nurturing single-outlet independent restaurants within a specific city. In this role, you will be the main business contact for these restaurant partners, learning how they operate, understanding their pain points, and building long-term relationships that support growth in orders, visibility, and customer engagement.
This is a consultative, field-based role that calls for initiative, flexibility, and a genuine commitment to helping partners succeed. It also offers hands-on exposure to restaurant operations and a strong base for a career in sales.
Key responsibilities
- Manage a defined local territory and build productive relationships with the restaurant partners assigned to you.
- Spend significant time in the field by visiting restaurants, demonstrating the product, explaining return on investment, and showing how the partnership benefits both sides.
- Use a consultative approach to understand each restaurant’s current channels, delivery setup, marketing spend, and business objectives, then position Swiggy’s offerings as practical solutions.
- Handle the full monthly partner cycle, including pitching, negotiation, activation, and continued support after onboarding.
- Monitor adoption and performance data, identify barriers to growth, troubleshoot issues, and make corrective recommendations.
- Take ownership of revenue goals in your territory and track pipeline movement and conversion performance independently.
- Work extensively with city and central trackers and maintain strong command over Excel, Google Sheets, and WSP for daily reporting and analysis.
- Keep up with restaurant trends, competitive movements, and local market conditions, and share field insights that can shape product decisions.
- Complete about 80 to 90 in-person meetings with restaurant partners every month.
Candidate profile
Swiggy is looking for someone with 0 to 2 years of experience in B2B sales, field sales, or business development, ideally from FMCG, food and beverage, or hotel-related backgrounds. The person should already have a history of achieving targets and managing an independent pipeline.
Because restaurant businesses operate throughout the day, the role requires a strong sense of ownership for the growth of the assigned partner portfolio. Comfort with data is essential, especially the ability to use Excel confidently for pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, and dashboard creation without support.
Postgraduate candidates, preferably with a background in marketing or sales, are preferred.
