Role overview
This position is for a product leader focused on Google Chat and its Ask Gemini experience. The role centers on shaping the future of workplace communication and AI-assisted collaboration for a large global user base. You will work across product, engineering, design, and AI research to turn complex technical possibilities into practical, user-friendly experiences.
What you will do
- Set the long-term product direction and delivery plan for the core Google Chat product as well as the Ask Gemini integration.
- Own the underlying messaging platform and ensure it scales well while delivering a smooth, intuitive experience for enterprise users around the world.
- Lead the complete generative AI experience inside Chat, including features that understand context, draw on Workspace data, and help users move faster.
- Coordinate across large, cross-functional teams in Engineering, UX, and DeepMind to bring reliable and high-quality AI capabilities to market.
- Define measures of success, shape leadership decisions, and make sure product investments support broader Google Workspace priorities and adoption goals.
What the job involves
Google seeks product managers who can adapt quickly as user needs and technology evolve. In this role, you will bridge technical and business priorities, break down complex problems into clear product steps, and help guide products from idea through launch. The work is highly collaborative and involves building with engineers, designers, marketers, and AI specialists to improve how people connect and work.
You will also help push the next generation of productivity tools forward, with a strong focus on AI-first experiences that can influence work over the next 5 to 10 years. The opportunity includes working with Google DeepMind and contributing to products that affect billions of users worldwide.
Location preference
Applicants will be able to indicate a preferred working location from Sunnyvale, CA, USA or Kirkland, WA, USA.
Compensation
The US base pay range for this role is $240,000 to $334,000, plus a 25% bonus target, equity, and benefits. Pay is determined by factors such as relevant skills, experience, and education or training.

Minimum qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
- 10 years of experience in product management or a similar technical role.
- 5 years of experience bringing technical products from concept to launch, including end-to-end and 0-to-1 work.
- Experience creating or launching products or technologies involving artificial intelligence or machine learning.
Preferred qualifications
- Strong knowledge of workplace productivity tools or unified communications platforms.
- Ability to work through significant technical ambiguity and bring new initiatives to market while also improving core platform experiences.
- Strong executive presence and the ability to build alignment across large matrixed organizations such as Google Workspace.
- Excellent problem-solving skills with a data-driven approach to success metrics and complex ecosystem planning.
- Experience building and shipping enterprise products using AI, machine learning, or generative AI/LLMs.
