Overview
Sagicor Group Jamaica Limited is inviting applications for a Patch Management Administrator to join its Infrastructure & Technical Services team in Kingston. This role is suited to someone who wants to build a long-term career in a stable, expanding financial services environment.
Role Purpose
The position is responsible for making sure compliance requirements are achieved by deploying, validating, and tracking patches and updates across the organization’s software and hardware estate. The successful candidate will work closely with subject matter experts and other team members during planning and execution, while ensuring patch management tools are used effectively and schedules are kept up to date.
Key Duties
- Carry out automated patch deployment whenever the environment allows.
- Oversee distribution points so patches are delivered efficiently and without disruption.
- Identify issues, route them to the correct support group, and monitor progress until resolution.
- Keep the Service Desk informed of any user impact caused by patching activities.
- Build, refine, and maintain a complete patch management approach for the organization.
- Apply updates according to the approved timetable and ensure deadlines are met.
- Maintain a dedicated test environment for all relevant software and hardware assets.
- Make sure the test environment is available whenever deployment testing is required.
- Perform basic validation of patches within the test environment before production rollout.
- Prepare and submit timely reports showing whether patches succeeded or failed in both test and production environments.
- Highlight situations where patches were not tested or approved and where update timelines were missed.
- Work with SMEs and external vendors on non-Windows platforms to confirm patch availability, support scheduling, carry out patching, and report missed updates.
- Complete other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
The ideal candidate should hold a bachelor’s degree in Computer Studies from a recognized tertiary institution and have at least three years of experience working in both Linux and Windows environments. Practical knowledge of Windows, Linux, and MacOS operating methods, as well as Active Directory, is required. Strong hands-on ability with patch management tools such as Microsoft SCCM, Microsoft Intune, SolarWinds, Gluware, and ManageEngine Endpoint Central is expected. Applicants should also understand scripting, particularly PowerShell, have exposure to vulnerability assessment tools, and possess a basic grasp of IT networking principles. Certifications such as CompTIA Security+, CCNA, and Microsoft Certified Azure Administrator Associate are preferred.
