Mobile Guard

Role overview

This position sits within Securitas’ mobile security team and focuses on creating a visible security presence for client sites. The job may involve driving to different locations to carry out patrols, inspections, and incident response activities.

The role is centered on standard security guard responsibilities in a mobile service environment. Depending on business needs and contract requirements, the guard may also be placed within a service grade or rank structure to support service delivery.

Core duties

• Deliver mobile guarding support and, when needed, operate a vehicle to patrol sites, inspect premises, and respond to incidents.
• Stay in contact with the office or base by radio or another communication method to share status updates, report incidents, or request help.
• Look for hazards, unsafe conditions, security breaches, and unauthorized access; inspect buildings, grounds, and security equipment.
• Monitor and activate security systems or devices as required.
• Protect evidence and incident scenes during accidents, emergencies, or security investigations; set up barriers, signs, and directions when needed.
• Maintain patrol logs and prepare written or typed reports, including entries in computer systems using proper grammar.
• Review security control logs and take appropriate action based on findings.
• Report incidents, suspicious behavior, or unusual activity to client contacts, management, life-safety staff, or public safety authorities as appropriate.
• Respond to emergencies such as fire, medical situations, bomb threats, flooding, water discharge, elevator incidents, hazardous material events, severe weather, and similar conditions according to training and site procedures.
• Complete other related tasks of similar scope as assigned.

Requirements and qualifications

• Applicants must be at least 18 years old.
• A dependable phone, pager, or similar communication method is required.
• A reliable way to get to work, whether public or private transportation, is necessary.
• Candidates must have the legal right to work in Canada.
• Ability to speak, read, and write English is required; in Quebec, French is also required.
• A high school diploma or GED is required. If this has not yet been completed, the candidate must be willing to finish the GED within six months.
• Willingness to complete the company’s pre-employment screening, including a background check, is required.
• Applicants should hold a high school diploma or GED; related experience is preferred.
• Must be able to satisfy and continue meeting any security guard licensing requirements.
• Driving record must meet company and insurance standards.
• Knowledge of security operations and procedures is preferred, or the ability to learn them quickly.
• Ability to follow written, verbal, or diagram-based instructions is required.
• Must be able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Professional composure is needed when dealing with unusual or difficult situations.
• Strong telephone etiquette, organizational ability, customer service, interpersonal skills, and written communication skills are important.
• Ability to adapt to changing conditions and interact respectfully with people from diverse backgrounds is expected.

Working conditions

• The role requires the physical and mental capacity to perform all essential duties, with or without reasonable accommodation.
• The job can involve stressful or urgent situations, including dealing with people attempting to access restricted areas.
• Background and reference checks, as well as a behavioral selection survey, are required, along with any mandatory licensing steps.
• Overtime may be required without advance notice.
• The role may require handling several tasks at the same time.
• Basic keyboarding, computer use, and control operation are part of the work.
• Clear sight, hearing, speaking, and writing are necessary to communicate, observe, report, and direct others.
• Work may involve frequent sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, and moving across inclines or uneven ground.
• There may be occasional reaching, bending, kneeling, crouching, and crawling.
• Frequent lifting or moving up to 10 pounds, with occasional lifting or moving up to 25 pounds, may be required.
• Close and distance vision, along with the ability to adjust focus, are important.
• Long periods of driving may be part of the assignment.
• The role may involve physically demanding or stressful activity at times.
• Depending on the site, work may take place in bad weather or require protective gear and heightened safety awareness.
• Sensitive and confidential information may need to be handled.
