Role Summary

The Machine Operator is responsible for running the processing line and associated equipment in a controlled, systematic and efficient way. The role focuses on meeting production targets, improving line efficiency, reducing waste, maintaining hygiene and housekeeping standards, and quickly raising food safety concerns to management. The position also involves tracking daily materials and utility usage, supervising workers on the line, and ensuring the equipment and work area remain in good operating condition.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate the processing line and equipment to achieve the best possible output and conversion yield.
  • Carry out maintenance and basic repairs on processing equipment to preserve line efficiency.
  • Coordinate with the Laboratory Technician and stop production when output is outside specification.
  • Run the line efficiently and consistently, with a focus on production targets and quality.
  • Complete hourly process control checks and prepare the required reports.
  • Hold quality wall meetings at the required intervals.
  • Ensure raw materials are available close to the production line before the run begins.
  • Keep equipment clean, hygienic and in proper working order.

  • Ensure that product quality is maintained throughout production.
  • Share daily updates and shift activities with other shifts for smooth handovers.
  • Promote teamwork and cooperation across the production area.
  • Support IPS audits and food safety audits.
  • Use utilities such as water, gas and electricity efficiently.
  • Help implement, maintain and improve the EHS Management System in line with legislation, PepsiCo GEHSMS and other relevant safety standards.

Qualifications and Experience

Applicants should hold at least an ITI qualification from an industrial training institute, have basic communication abilities, a strong work ethic, and the capability to independently operate process equipment.
